Creality K2 Plus - take my money!
Having set up an Ender 3 with a warped build plate, it’s almost surreal to be at a point where I covet a Creality product. Yet, here we are…
Anyone want to get me a K2 Plus?
EV9 gripe #1 UPDATE - Phone entry fixed
What do you do if two of the ways of accessing a vehicle aren’t reliable? JUST HAVE SEVEN WAYS, TOTAL. Duh.
Seriously, though, Kia seems to have finally fixed their access issue…
Let’s celebrate!
What is it?
It’s not necessarily anyone’s fault when we make mistakes. How far should a company go to make their products idiot proof friendly?
EV9 gripe #4 UPDATE!
I guess Kia was aware of the screen dimming issue. Now there’s a recall and an OTA. What does the recall say? Load the OTA…
10 Things I hate about you… Kia EV9 gripe #6
I love my Kia EV9.
I also hate specific things about it. What can I say, human emotions are complex.
Here’s hate point #6
Are FDM printers appliances yet?
FDM printers continue to get better and better, reflecting the huge engineering commitment to do so. That’s great, but let’s discuss what it’s going to take to put FDM into non-hobbyist homes.
Way to prove my points, Kia
It takes talent to take a couple of my Kia EV9 gripes, and create a crossover episode that combines them. Poorly done, Kia.
They took a bad infotainment design decision, mostly resolved it with an ok-ish solution, and then inadequately communicated the remediation to their customers. This, despite pushing the “fix” out as an OTA.
I still love my EV9. I hope/expect Kia to get better at these types of issues. I also think it will take a while (Tesla was bad at it for at least 4 years).
Enough vaporware, Creality
Manufacturers (in general), and Creality (in specific), it’s time to be more honest with your customers. In a market segment where brand loyalty means a lot, it’s better to admit your mistakes, than it is to pretend that you don’t make any.
Creality’s AI features? You’re rubbish, mate!
Maybe it's time to let the old ways die
“Maybe it’s time to let the old ways die”
Then again, maybe not.
Nostalgia isn’t the only reason to hang on to older items, tools, and technologies.

There are updates available for your… refrigerator?
I don’t think most people regard the “smart” functionality added to appliances “core” functionality. How do you feel about largely superfluous features possibly impacting the reliability of the operation of your appliance?
A little help with tree supports?
Having an issue with tree supports? Me too! Sometimes, anyway. I have a theory, but would also like help.
$450 Creality K1C at Micro Center!
Get your new Creality K1C at Micro Center for $450! That's almost into SE territory, and a full $150 cheaper than it was selling for a month ago. I guess they're moving units to get ready for the K2 series, but so what? The K1C is what the K1 should have been - fast, high-quality, and pretty much bulletproof. That is, assuming you get the textured build plate :)
To support, or not to support?
If you've been FDM printing for long, you've developed a pretty good sense of when you need supports. You may even know when you can manually take them out of your slicer. But what if your innate instincts are obsolete?
